In December 2024, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum issued a decree establishing the Dubai Films and Games Commission. The Commission is mandated to: establish regulatory frameworks for the video games industry, enhance the industry's contribution to Dubai's economy, oversee digital platforms for game development, publishing, and distribution, and promote local games in international markets
